In Mozart’s Idomeneo, the noble King Idomeneo of Crete is shipwrecked after having survived a turbulent storm at sea. He makes a pact with Neptune: If the god will deliver Idomeneo home, he will sacrifice the first person he greets upon his arrival. To his horror, it is his son, Idamante. As father and son navigate their fates, Idamante is caught in a triangle of affection with the lovely princess Ilia and the jealous Elettra.

Mozart’s dramatic music accompanies these conflicted characters on a deeply emotional journey.
Idomeneo is performed in Italian with English supertitles.

Music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Libretto by Giambattista Varesco
